Mission lunch
Please pray for the success of this event and bring & share lunch on Sunday July 18th and for volunteers to help on the day.
News on Andrew
We have been overwhelmed by all the thoughts, cards, calls, texts, prayers, love and kindnesses with which we have been showered since Andrew was taken ill early in June. Now that we are home from Bristol, following Andrew's heart surgery, we just want to thank you all so much. Andrew is feeling a little stronger but still gets very tired and it will be a few weeks before he returns to church.
Andrew is now strong enough for one or two very short visits, but please don't call without making prior arrangements with Jean.
The church's usual treasury service will be resumed as soon as possible.
In the meantime, anybody who has incurred expense on church
business during Andrew's absence should let Pauline Davis have the
receipts so that she can see that they are paid. Likewise, anybody holding
money to be paid into the church account should also pass to
Pauline Davis with an appropriate note.
South American lunch: Sunday 18th July
Quiz question: Which countries in South America have no access to the sea? Answer: Only Bolivia and Paraguay.
This bring and share lunch on July 18th is an opportunity to share hospitality together as a church family, and find out more about Paraguay and the work of our mission partners, Bishop Peter and Sally Bartlett. There'll be music, a presentation, and quiz and South America art work produced by our children's groups, so bring a bowl of food to share and come and join in the fun, and find out more about this country that we support.
Paraguayan recipes available at church if you fancy having a go, or just bring something else to share. See you there.

Set sail for adventure
Our children's leaders work very faithfully throughout the year, so we like to give them a break in the summer. This year we will be building our children's work around the Veggie Tales movie "The Pirates who don't do anything".
That DVD will of course be accompanied by plenty of pirate craft, painting etc. Of course, this does require some people willing to help us with children over those three weeks in the middle (August 1 / August 8 / August 15).
So, you will see the red box in the foyer has a number of pieces of paper designed for volunteers in a particular Sunday. All the themes and ideas will be prepared for you in advance so you don't have to think anything up!
Where are the biscuits?
This question has been asked more than once recently by those making coffee. The biscuits are not in the large cupboard, which is usually locked. There is a smaller cupboard to your right hand side as you look out through the hatch into the lounge. That is where you will find them.
Pastoral Care Team
Once upon a time clergy used to drop around and see
people, have coffee with them, and just find out how people
were. When I first arrived in the parish of Rodbourne Cheney,
there were four full-time clergy and two part-time clergy for the
parishes of St Mary's Rodbourne Cheney and St John's
Haydon Wick. Now there's just two of us, Nick Lines, me and
Andrew, who is officially retired! Raymond still tries to see as many of the
congregation is possible, but rather than drop the whole idea of keeping in
touch with congregation members, we have a Pastoral Care Team to help.
Sharon Mortimer, Julie Jarman, Jill Crowhurst and Lizzie Tunley may give you
a call.
You might wonder why they're ringing you if you're not ill, or bereaved, or in
trouble. We're just trying to keep in touch with the whole church family, and the
Pastoral Care team are helping Raymond to do this.
Parish Office
The Parish Office is open on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9am to 1pm. Please provide all items for the bulletin in writing first thing on Wednesday please!
