Jesus never wrote a book, erected a building or made any money. Yet we learned about the indelible mark that his short life has left on human history. Most of the values western democracies are built on originate in the life and teaching of Jesus – the equality of all, servant leadership, care for the poor and marginalised, dignity of women and children, education, and many others.

We learned that Jesus came both to bring salvation and to change our lives and our environments.

He has redeemed us as His people, and one day will redeem the whole of creation.

If you would like to find out more about the Christian faith, then we’d like to invite you to an Alpha Course or Puzzling Questions course. We run both of these courses from time to time at St John’s.

Alpha Course Logo

The Alpha Course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening way over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions. It’s low key, friendly and fun, and generally involves food.

Puzzling Questions Logo

Puzzling Questions is an opportunity to explore some of life’s deeper questions, such as ‘How can I be happy?’, ‘What happens after death?’ or ‘Why is there suffering in the world?’. It’s an informal opportunity to chat over these issues with a few other people.

If you have questions now, please contact us and we’ll try to answer. There’s also an excellent website we recommend which answers questions real people have about Christianity.
