Church notice sheet - 11 April 2010
Thanks to Mark Sansome
A special thanks to Mark for standing in this morning while Raymond is on holiday. Because it is an All Age service at 11:00, and 1662 communion service at 9:00am, Mark has to produce two different sermons.
Two weeks to go
In two weeks time our Archdeacon, Alan Hawker, will be here to open the kitchen officially. We look forward to sharing lunch together as a church family after our united communion service at 10:30am. Please put your name on the list in the foyer if you are intending to have lunch with us on that day. If you require a lift, we will be glad to help. Please put your name on the same list.
New Electoral Roll
The new Electoral Roll is now on display in the lobby. Please check your entry carefully and let Sharon Mortimer know if there are any errors.
JAM preparation meeting
A big thank you to all who have agreed to help with J.A.M in Deep Water. We will be holding our preparation meeting on Tuesday 27 April at 7:30pm in church. This is an essential meeting for all involved and we hope you will be able to attend. If you are unable to come please let Andrew Carpenter know.
Thank you to all those who have collected the materials we need for JAM over the past weeks. We now have sufficient supplies for our needs and you can stand down from your collecting activities!
Annual Parochial Church Meeting
Monday 19th April 2010 at 7:30pm. The APCM gives us the opportunity to review the past and consider the future. New PCC members will be elected, and a new churchwarden appointed as Pauline comes to the end of the period of office. More will be said about that on the day. Rod Mortimer will continue to serve as churchwarden. Anyone may propose and second a number of the congregation to serve in the PCC. You do that by writing their name in the form on the notice board. They need to be on the electoral roll, and you need to have asked their permission Leadership.
We will also be commissioning our Ministry Leadership Team at the APCM, as well as our new Pastoral Care Team. A special edition of the bulletin will be produced the day before the APCM to introduce these teams and explain their role in St John's. We want everyone to know as much about them as possible.
Thanks to our PCC Members: We want to say a big "Thank you" to Chris Hawkes, Lesley Hawkes, Andrew Carpenter, Chris Alcock and Becki Jones whose term of office on PCC came to an end at a meeting on Monday. We thank them for all the work they've done . Andrew has chaired our meetings for the last three years, which has made life much easier for Raymond.
Pastoral Care Team
The new Pastoral Care Team are gradually finding their feet. If you know of anyone who would like a visit, either because they are ill, or just because they'd like a friendly chat over a cuppa, please let Sharon Mortimer know.
New minister for Emmanuel
I am delighted to be able to announce that a new minister will be coming to Emmanuel church in Haydon Wick in a few months time. More details will be made known as they become available. However, we are pleased that the long period of vacancy for Emmanuel is now over.
Parish Office
The Parish Office is open on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9am to 1pm. Please provide all items for the bulletin in writing first thing on Wednesday please!
