Wiltshire's churches annual sponsored "Ride and Stride"
Cycle or walk around the Churches of Wiltshire to raise money for your church and Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust on Saturday 12th September 2009. Details and sponsorship forms can be obtained from our local organizer Ron McGiffie.
Thank you and farewell
We are sorry to announce that Wendy Hiscock, our Administrator will be leaving this position on the 18th September to take up a course at Lackham College. We would like to thank Wendy for everything she has done in the office including the difficult job of “setting up” the new parish office 18 months ago. We wish Wendy every success in her Animal Management Course.
Therefore, a new Parish Administrator is needed. The post involves working in the parish office on three days a week, Wednesday and Fridays 9 - 12 and one other day which is negotiable at interview stage. Applicants must have typing, secretarial and administrative skills. E-mail and Internet skills are essential. He or she will have a friendly approachable manner, being able to work with church members and the wider public. For further information please contact Pauline Davis. Closing date for applications is Monday 7th September. Interviews will follow shortly afterwards.
Quiz Evening
There will be a Quiz Evening on Saturday 12th September at 7:00pm. This will be something anyone and everyone can take part in and is suitable for all ages. We will accommodate those in teams and those who want to make up a team; the first-timers and the old hands; the brainy and the barmy! There is a list in church for you to sign up. Please contact Andy and Carol Hall for further information.
Women's Day Conference
This Women's Day Conference is being held at Freshbrook Evangelical Church on Wednesday 9th September from 9:45am to 2:30pm. The theme is "The Life of Promise". The speaker is Joy McIver from Australia. For more details please see poster on notice board.
Growing Leaders Course
A number of you expressed an interest in being involved in the Growing Leaders course starting in early October. We will be doing this along with Wroughton parish church, and we are just finalising the dates. Unfortunately, Charles Burgess came on the last Sunday before the holidays, which means it all takes a bit longer to plan. However, we will have everything in place by next week. It would be a good idea for you to sign up on the list in the vestry if you would like to receive information about Growing Leaders.
Swindon Foodbank
Don't forget the Food Bank quiz on Friday 4th September. The next Food Bank collection is at Asda Walmart on Saturday 12th September. The sign-up sheet is on the table in the foyer; please put your name down if you can spare an hour or two.
Parish Office
The Parish Office is open on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9am to 1pm. All items for the bulletin to Wendy in writing first thing on Wednesday please!
