HandsPrayer topics this week

For those working in Financial Services. For all our emergency services. For those who live alone.

Creche room

Thanks to Pauline Davis, Jean Dean, Dee Howard and Steve Bessent for improvements already made, or about to be made, to the crèche room. It has looked a bit like a store cupboard up to now, and has been less than inviting for parents and children. There is more work to be done on it, but you should already have seen considerable improvements.

A big thank you to our gardening team

Janet Gash, Carole Hall and Nigel Crowhurst did a wonderful job on the garden last week. We said "Thank you" to them in church, but would like to record our thanks in the bulletin for the huge improvement to the area. They are hoping to make further improvements. PCC has been considering for some time what they should do about the area between the church and Morrisons. Our team is ready to respond to the challenge and will be looking for reinforcements when they come to tackle it.

Harvest produce

In keeping with our previous years' practice, we aim to collect harvest produce which can later be used to help people in need, either those who are on the streets (The Filling Station) or those who are temporarily short of funds (Swindon Food Bank).

Mixer desk

This is a vital role. Without it the music group cannot function. We have a vacancy for at least one person to operate the desk on a Sunday morning. What does it involve? The music group practises two services every other Wednesday. The mixer desk operator is present at the rehearsal and the two Sundays following. The main thing is to listen to the music and respond to what you hear. Technical training in operating the desk itself will be given to anyone who offers. If you can help, please have a word with Raymond.

Reading the Lesson in Church

Raymond would like to bring together everyone who reads the lesson in church, for an evening of practice and training. We will work on a variety of passages. Our first date will be Tuesday 7th October at 7:45pm. Once the dates of the Alpha course are settled we will run the same training again – not on a Tuesday. All our lesson readers should have received a letter or email about this. If you have not, have a word with Raymond.

Don't forget your rota

The rest of the rota [October – December] is now available, or has been emailed to you. The reason for the delay was our desire to accommodate the many people who volunteered during our "What Can I Give? What Can I Bring?" initiative. The responses were collated in August and September and the new rota has been drawn up to include them.

FlowersSay it with flowers

For those who want to thank God for some special day or blessing, or wish to mark a particular occasion, we offer the opportunity to donate the flowers in the church on the Sunday of their choice. Simply pass your donation for the flowers with a note of the special occasion, or name of the person in memory of whom the flowers have been donated, at least two weeks prior to the Sunday concerned, to Andrew Dean and he will ensure that the dedication is printed in the bulletin.

Do you buy on line?
