“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
The above verses are powerful promises of hope, urging believers to release the past, embrace God’s fresh mercies, and actively participate in the new, life-giving work He is constantly bringing forth in their lives, making paths where there were none and bringing water to dry places.
This includes spiritual rejuvenation, releasing past failures, expectations disappointments, traumas or past victories should not limit present hope. Dwelling on them will only lead to stagnation and a ministry of maintenance. However, God is inviting us to trust Him in His ongoing provision and actively perceive or know what He is doing now.
If we actively perceive God’s work among us now and release our past experiences, we will see God’s power bring life, purpose, and provision where things seem impossible or desolate, transforming barrenness into thriving life.
What past are you going to forget or release into order for you to have a fresh encounter with God in the new year?
God is calling you and me to change our focus from “When will God fix my past?” to “What new thing is God doing today that I can partner with?”.
May the joy of the Lord be your strength.
Every blessing,
Patches
