Dear St John’s family,

It is my prayer that you are all well by the grace of God. I write this letter to you for Three reasons:

Firstly, I write to say thank you for your love, support and encouragement my family and I have received from you since we arrived here in Haydon Wick. It has indeed been a joy and privilege to be your pastor. Thank you!!

As we walk into the Christmas season, let us cover each other in prayer. This season can be a challenging time for others due to many reasons. Please pray that the gospel of Jesus Christ will be preached with power and authority and that many people will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Secondly, I write to inform you that starting next year our 11am service will change to 10:30am. The reason is to strengthen the fellowship of our two congregations. We will now have an opportunity to get to know each other more over a cup of tea or coffee in between services (10am-10:30am). This will promote the unity of purpose and our spiritual formation. This means, we will not have refreshments after the 10:30am service.

Thirdly, we will introduce a mid-week communion service at 11am starting from Ash Wednesday. This will be a great opportunity to reach out to those who are unable to come to church on Sunday but able to do so during the week. We will also have a light lunch of soup after the service in the hall. This is to promote fellowship, friendship and community.

Meanwhile, here is my prayer for you: “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace give you eternal encouragement and good hope” (2 Thessalonians 2:16).

Every blessing, Patches
