Both the 9am and 11am congregation got a taste of Chinese New Year last Sunday!
The lounge turned red – symbolizing good luck, joy and happiness – and looked very festive with Chinese New Year greetings. Most greetings have a Christian basis, such as May God be with you or Blessings from God. I hope everyone picked up a Red Pocket.
The Candy Box looked a bit empty at the end but it was full and colourful at the start. Many people enjoyed the Crisp Candy which came in cashew, peanut, coconut, and black sesame flavours.
We also had fun cracking sunflower seeds. The Chinese character for seed (子) also means child or children, and symbolizes having many sons and grandsons! (It’s a great way to spend time together too, as shown in this picture of the boys).
There will be more CNY strawberry candy and sunflower seeds available on Sunday if you missed out last week. Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days.
