Members of the church of Christ the Servant have worked hard to keep their doors open, but have been discussing their future with the local Joint Council. Theirs is a very attractive building and still serves the community. However, the worshipping congregation never really got back on track after the pandemic and the congregation is now down to single figures.
As a result, the decision has been made by the leaders of all four denominations namely Baptist, Methodist, United Reformed and Anglican, to bring CTS to a close. This does not mean the end of the building as a place of prayer and worship. The aim is that it will be sold to another Christian fellowship, either from the traditional denomination or a community church.
Discussions are ongoing and we will learn more about that in the future.
It means that St John’s might have some new neighbours in the near future, assuming a buyer from another church can be found.
