The next date for Filling Station is Thursday, 12th September. Mary has set out the envelopes for those of you who volunteer for Filling Station on the table in the foyer for you to collect.
Filling Station works to feed homeless people on the streets of Swindon. It runs a weekly soup kitchen from a car park in the town centre and is staffed by volunteers.
The soup kitchen provides not only hot soup, but hot dogs, hot drinks, blankets, clothing, toiletries and also a supply of tinned goods each week. The organisation raises its own funding and has no paid staff. It receives most of its support from a network of local churches, including ours, which provide sandwiches for the clients, and volunteers. In September Chris and Lesley will be co-ordinating our contribution on the day.
If you would like to make sandwiches for the next time St. John’s is on the Filling Station rota, please let Mary know.
Isaiah 58:10
If you give some of your own food to those who are hungry and to satisfy those who are humble, then your light will rise in the dark, and your darkness will become as bright as the noonday sun.
