UKHK Welcome Course 4 began on Monday 26th February with an eager group of participants!

For a variety of reasons we had to delay the course until now so many of the Hongkongers have already been here for about 6 months. Settling in to a new country, even though many have good language skills, is an ongoing adaptation for them and they are keen to learn all they can from the course. Some have jobs, some do not, some would like to work. Some have children still settling into new schools in a new culture – some parents complain their children aren’t given enough homework!

The differences between here and HK are many – the weather, how to respond to casual language exchanges, culture, food – but we find that these lovely people are resourceful, good-humoured and respectful.

Please pray for volunteers and attendees that our loving Heavenly Father would meet all physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs as we go through the course.

As in previous Welcome Courses we would like to give our Hong Kong friends a taste of home-cooked British food – namely Cottage/ Shepherd’s Pie. If you are able to cook one that would feed 4-6 people for 12.45pm on 25th March it would be greatly appreciated.

And just a note that if you would like to contribute financially because you don’t have the time (or skill?) to make one, please partner with someone or speak to me.

Thanks very much! Carol.
