The period between the former vicar leaving and the new vicar arriving is normally known as the vacancy. The term “interregnum” is not considered helpful.
The length of a vacancy is dependent on a number of factors but, in practice, it is unlikely to be less than 9 months. Traditionally, the C of E has been wary of beginning the process of looking for a vicar until the previous incumbent has gone.
However, as you will hear on Sunday, there are steps that the PCC can take at this point, and some of them will involve you.
Even more importantly there will be a prayer meeting at 7:30pm in the Quiet Room on Wednesday, 30th November to seek God’s guidance.
