We are delighted that Ali has agreed to stand as churchwarden alongside Sharon at the APCM. Wardens easily get drawn into lots of different things. We need to look after them as they look after us.
They come to church on Sunday not to solve problems but, like the rest of us, to worship. And we need them to do that. If they get swamped with church business, they lose their spiritual focus – which we need.
I recall a former administrator feeling that she needed to go to another church because she found it very hard to be an administrator and a worshipper. People would come with so many issues, questions and worst of all, complaints on a Sunday morning. That did not put her in the mood for worship. Too many individual raindrops soon became a lake.
Clearly when we are all together in church it can be easier to deal with issues that arise. And our wardens will want to use those opportunities from time to time.
This is really about awareness. if you have an issue that does not need to be responded to there and then on a Sunday morning, please put it in an email so that it can be dealt in “administration” time and not in “worship” time.
