Bishop Viv says: “The Church of England in our region is shaping a new vision and set of priorities for the coming years. We want to understand what we do well, what we can change for the better and how we can create a positive way forward together.
This process is called Transforming Church. Together.
We began with conversations. For almost a year we talked with and listened to lots of different people, both within and outside the church.
Eleven Working Groups (WGs) have recently been established to support the development of the final draft of the new strategy. The aim is to have a strategy document ready to present to Diocesan Synod in March 2022.
Time is short. The work of the Working Groups needs to be completed by midFebruary to allow that to happen.
To be credible, and worthy of Synod consideration, we must have a good understanding of how we are going to achieve our strategic aims, and the broad year-by-year cost of doing so. The working groups are covering such things as:
- Buildings
- Income Generation
- Grow Under 25s
- Support to Low Income
- Communities
- Developing our Volunteers
- Deliver Net Zero
- Lived out Faith
Please keep our new Diocesan Secretary (CEO) in your prayers. Richard Leaman, a former Vice Admiral, has been recently appointed to this post in our diocese. He must now help to transform it.
