New restrictions will be strictly enforced in Uganda to curb the spread of a second wave of Covid-19 following a sharp rise in cases, President Museveni confirmed in a televised address last Sunday.
“All schools will be closed for 42 days” the president said, adding that “all teachers will be required to be vaccinated before returning to the classroom. There is an increasing number of clusters of infections in schools.”
Worship in church will be suspended for 42 days. We know that this is likely to bring severe hardship to clergy, especially those working in poorer areas. We also know there is no guarantee that 42 days will be enough to bring this latest outbreak to an end. Uganda has been hit hard economically already.
