Thanks to Bernadette for being willing to act as verger at the 9am. Bernadette is a relatively new member. She is a Swindonian who has spent a large part of her life in the United Sates. Having returned to Swindon last year, Bernadette found it a lot bigger than when she left it.
Vergers are one of the essential cog-wheels that keep the machinery of church life turning smoothly over. We really notice the difference when they are not there.
Speaking of which—thanks to Chris and Paul for eliminating the horrible hum from the microphone at the 9am service. Much better!
