The Area Dean, Rev Clive Deverell, resigned from his post for personal reasons last week. +Viv asked me if I would take over as Acting Area Dean of Swindon during the present emergency. We will hold fresh elections once all this is over. Just to reassure you, I will not be leaving St John’s. It is just an add-on!
I have to he honest and say that I have not yet cracked open the champagne in celebration of this unexpected elevation. Nevertheless, I was pleased to be asked and I guess it will look good on my CV.
I was disappointed to learn that the post of Area Dean doesn’t come with a company car. So far, the only real upside that I have discovered is that Sharon is required to curtsey to me.
