The Diocese has recently appointed an Environmental Officer. This person will be employed for two days a week specifically with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint of the churches in our diocese.

This is a thoroughly biblical concept. Psalm 8 reminds us that God has given human beings dominion over the planet, and expect us to be stewards of it. At the moment, no one can say we are doing that successfully. Commitments by the government to be carbon free by 2050 show that our leaders are taking this whole question very seriously. And we want to be doing the same as a church. This issue needs to be high up on our agenda. Some would say right at the top. After all, if we ruin the environment, nothing else counts for much.
