There are lots of legends about St Francis of Assisi. “There was even a time when St. Francis is said to have quieted a flock of noisy birds that were interrupting a religious ceremony! Much to the wonder of all present, the birds remained quiet until Francis’ sermon was complete.” Well – possibly. One thing we can say is that behind the legends there is a real and very remarkable person whose faith in Christ dramatically shaped his life.
St Francis School is named after this great man of God. And on Sunday, 30th September we will be joining with the parents and children of the school for a St Francis day service. This will take place in the assembly Hall in school. We are encouraging our members to come that day at 4pm so that you can be part of this event. St Francis is now very much “our” school in that it is part of our parish. This would be a very good opportunity to get inside, if you have never seen it – and of course to show the children, parents and teachers that the church link matters to us.
We want to provide refreshments so it would be good if we could get a team organised to do that as soon as possible. Please let Catherine have your name if you can help.
