A few weeks ago we looked at Julian the Apostate. He was annoyed that Christians were helping not just other Christians – but non believers and pagans as well. Even worse – it seemed a major factor in church growth.

Two Millennia Later

The idea of sending young people from some of the more deprived parts of the diocese to Uganda is a new one. For some of these young people, this is the first time they have met Christians and it is fair to say they have discovered a new world of generosity. They have themselves been fund raising hard, but the bulk of the money for this trip will come from Christians who have never even met them. That can be hard to get your head around if you are on the receiving end of it.

Over £20,000 has already been given but there is about £5,000 to go before the trip in August. This money has come from all over the diocese, but our standing committee has agreed that it would like to help even more. Andrew has suggested that the PCC matches any amounts given up to a limit of £1,000. All cheques or donations please to Andrew.
