It most certainly is. Definite proposals have been received by the PCC. The aim is that everything east of Thamesdown Drive (including Taw Hill and St Francis School, Abbey Meads and Groundwell) would become part of St John’s Haydon Wick. This will more than double the geographical area of our parish. Everything west of Thamesdown Drive (the other side of the road from the Orbital) would remain with St Andrew North Swindon. St John’s PCC had already accepted these proposals in principle when we discussed this issue last year. Our Standing Committee will be consulting with the Standing Committee of St Andrew North Swindon in early October. The Diocese wants to hear from both committees by 16th October. Things could move quite quickly after that. We will keep you up-to-date.
