Our Finance, Fabric and Governance Sub-team has been doing a lot of thinking about the car park. It is in bad shape even after a very dry winter and spring. In the dark and in the wet it can be dangerous to walk on.
Trevor has done a huge amount of work on this. PCC received quotations from three firms, to which we gave careful consideration. It is inevitably going to be a costly piece of work. However, PCC took the view that a functioning car park is essential to the ongoing work of the church.
When we laid the present car park we were required to provide a green area. (Though it is more often brown.) We are working towards replacing the current grid with a tarmac surface.
Morrisons very kindly overlook the fact that we use their car park as an extension of our own. We want to maintain good relations with them so they continue to allow us to do that.
