On February 11th Shelley and Raymond will join five other people from the Swindon deanery for a two-week visit to the dioceses of Kampala and Luweero in Uganda. This is primarily an opportunity for us to deepen the links between our respective churches.

The new thing about this trip is that we will be staying in the homes of Christians in Kampala, the capital city. We have been there before, but largely as tourists, enjoying the city and its access to other parts of Uganda. From there we have visited the source of the Nile before moving on to the diocese of Luweero, where the people we really know live and work.

However, in 2015 Raymond and Alison hosted the Asst. Bishop of Kampala, Bishop Hannington, and his wife for a few days. We look forward to renewing that relationship once again, and seeing what results from it. Chris Dobson, our diocesan Uganda adviser, assures us that the Kampala congregations will be full of surprises. He promises me that there is another, very different, side to Uganda which those of us who only know the churches of Luweero have yet to discover.
