Counting & banking rota
We are grateful to the St. John's members who count the offerings each Sunday after the 11:00am service is over. They work in pairs on a rota basis (once in every six weeks). However, we will be losing two of our counters from September and would like to hear from others who would be willing to join the rota. If you are good at counting money and are willing to be involved, or would like to have more information about what the job entails, please speak to our Treasurer, Andrew, or to one of the Churchwardens.
The T-loop system
Everyone in church should be able to hear the service clearly, even if you make use of a hearing aid. That is the law. However, there have been problems with the T-loop connection recently, and we have been working to restore them. When the sound engineer came in to look at the system last Thursday, everything was made to work properly. However, experience with technology tells us a system working on Thursday is a very different thing from it actually working on Sunday morning! So we would be very grateful if you could let us know how well it is functioning today. Please have a word with Raymond or Rod Mortimer this morning to let us know whether you were able to hear the services properly this morning.
Meeting for prayer
As the home group year comes to an end, we are planning to meet in church on Tuesday 30th June and Thursday 2nd July here in church at 7:45pm for a united evening of prayer for home group members and non-home group members. There will be no home groups meeting during that week.
We want to take the opportunity to bring before God our concerns for the church and the world, and to seek His guidance and power for the future. You are of course, welcome to come to both of these meetings, but we are holding them on two separate days in order to make sure that everyone can make at least one. We thank God for the amount of prayer that goes on a weekly basis in our various home groups. This is an opportunity for us to come together, learn together, pray together and experience God's blessing together.
Dramatic result
Well done to Emma and Tabby on an excellent performance of the 'Long-Range Weather Report' sketch last Sunday. A number of people have wondered if they will be doing any more of these -- the answer is yes. And of course, we are always keen to hear from other people who would like to take part in something similar.
From the PCC
The PCC heard an excellent presentation from Charles Burgess on Monday evening on the subject of the new Growing Leaders course from CPAS. Charles will be coming to speak to the whole Church on Sunday 20th July about this. We also discussed various issues surrounding the Lay/Clergy leadership team arising out of the day conference with Alan Hawker earlier in the year. Because there was so much to fit in, and important decisions to be made, the PCC decided to meet again on Monday 6th July with only these two issues on the agenda.
We are very grateful indeed to Andrew Carpenter, who has taken on the task of drawing up plans for the new kitchen. This should save us many thousands of pounds. We are immensely grateful to Andrew for his expertise and his exceptional contribution to the life of this church. He was also chairing the PCC meeting!
Wootton Bassett home group
There will be no home group next Tuesday, 23rd June due to family commitments.
Filling Station
Thank you so much to all the volunteers who prepare food for the Filling Station. You will all be delighted to have read that we have been awarded The Queens Award for Voluntary Service. It is only the second time that one has been awarded in Wiltshire since the awards were initiated in 2002 and it is a great tribute to all the volunteers. The Filling Station Team have asked me to pass on their very grateful thanks for everything you do. There is a handout in the foyer if you would like to take one.
Parish Office
The Parish Office is open on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9am to 1pm. All items for the bulletin to Wendy in writing first thing on Wednesday please!
