J.A.M. in Space Briefing Meeting
A big thank you to all who have signed up for helping at J.A.M. We will be holding a briefing meeting for all involved on Monday 20th April in Church at 7:30 pm. If you have signed up please do try and come as we need to make sure that everyone knows what they will be doing on the Saturday. We will cover the activities that are not directly involved with working with the children first, to let people get away as soon as possible. If you are not sure if you need to attend please have a word with Andrew Carpenter.
Gaza Humanitarian Crisis Appeal
The gifts for the Gaza Humanitarian Crisis Appeal now total £336.25. Any further donations for this appeal should be passed to our Treasurer, Andrew, in envelopes marked 'Gaza'. Cheques should be made payable to St. John's PCC.
Revd. Joe Morris - Funeral and Memorial Service
Please continue to pray for Chuck, Kath and Katie, and other members of the family, as they mourn the loss of Joe. The family invites all to join them at either or both of the services which have been arranged as follows: Joe's funeral will be held in St. Mary's Church, Great Dunmow, Essex, on Saturday, 21st March at 2:00pm. Afterwards there will be a Bring and Share meal together and you are invited to bring food - drinks will be provided. Joe expressed no preference for flowers or donations in lieu of flowers. Donations are for Interserve. Joe spent 6 months working with Interserve. Donations can be passed to our Treasurer, Andrew and should be marked 'Joe/Interserve' with cheques payable to St. John's PCC.
On Friday, 3rd April at 3:00pm there will be a Memorial Service in celebration of Joe's life, here in St. John's. Those attending either service are invited to bring a photo or reminiscence to put in the Remembrance Book. Alternatively, friends may just wish to write who they are and where they met Joe. There will be a bowl for donations for Interserve at the Memorial Service.
Homemade cakes are needed for refreshments after Joe's Memorial service at St. John's on Friday 3rd April. If you are able to supply any would you please contact Lesley Hawkes on 537397. We will have several visitors to the church on that day.
Blind Children's Sports Gathering
No more donations are required. Thank you to those who have already given to the blind children of Balitta, to allow them to participate. Enough money is now available for them all to go to the “12th National Primary Sports Championship for Children with Visual Impairment”. The money will provide for registration to the event, food and accommodation for the children, their guides and officials, and transportation of the team to and from the University Sports Ground.
Ugandan Developments
If you would like to see more of the Ugandan DVD we showed last week, and there are some really wonderful bits in it, we will be showing it on the following two dates. Monday 30th March and Thursday 23rd April at 7:30pm. The second one would be a repeat showing, so please don't come twice! You will get to see:

- Bwaziba School
- Kiwoko Hospital
- Bishop Asili Health Centre

Alpha Course
Alpha Course Number 14 is coming up. It is still not too late for you to join. At the present time we are finding out what day suits everybody. Hopefully we'll be able to give the dates and times in the very near future. Our course will have to span Easter, but that is not a problem.
Raymond's Installation as Canon
Raymond will be installed as Honorary Canon at Bristol Cathedral at 3:30pm on Saturday, 2nd May. We are planning to take members of the congregation by coach to Bristol to support Raymond on his special day. If you would like to be there to see Raymond installed, please sign the coach list on the table in the church foyer. The subsidised coach cost will be £5 per ticket for adults - £3 for children and young people aged 15 and under. BUT HURRY! The coach is filling up - there are only a few seats left!
When we return to St. John's we will be serving a meal followed by our evening of entertainment.
