HandsPrayer topics this week

For those looking for new employment opportunities. Our Diocesan Growth Programme - growing in commitment, growing in partnership, growing in influence and growing in numbers.

Lent homegroup in church

There will be a 'homegroup' in St. John's on three Tuesdays in Lent - 26th February, and 4th & 11th March - for those who do not normally attend one of our established homegroups.

The evenings will be led by Andrew Dean and will start at 7:30pm with tea/coffee. From 7:45pm we will share worship, Bible study, prayer and discussion and will finish promptly at 9:15pm.

We will be using the same material as the usual homegroups are using in Lent. So, if you are not in a homegroup, why not come and join us in St. John's on one or more of the three Tuesday evenings?

For more information, please telephone Andrew on 725526.

Renewal of giving

Today is the day when our Treasurer will announce the result of this year's renewal of giving. If you have still not returned your completed Promise Card it will still help us if you can do so. Outstanding Promise Cards can be handed to Andrew, or one of the churchwardens, in church.

Women's World Day of Prayer

WorldWomen's World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action, organised and led by Christian women on the first Friday in March each year to observe a common day of prayer.

The service is written by a different country each year and that country then becomes the focus of the world's prayers on the day itself.

The day begins as dawn breaks over the islands of Tonga in the Pacific and continues across each continent until the last services of this special day are held back in the Pacific, on the islands of Samoa, circling the world in prayer for 36 hours.

The day of prayer takes place this year at Rodbourne Road Methodist Church on Friday 7th March at 10:00am.

Palm treeJ.A.M in the Caribbean 2008

This will take place on Saturday 10th May in St John's Church and we anticipate between 100 and 140 children will attend this annual event. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to spend time with some of the children of Haydon Wick.

However, we will need a lot of help to run the day and would ask you to consider if this is something you could do.

SunWe will need group leaders and assistants, registration assistants, refreshment organisers, first aid assistants and people to move furniture etc in the church.

If you can help, then please sign up on the list in the entrance hall. If you need more information about what is involved please contact Raymond Adams 634258, or Andrew Carpenter 848663.

Please note, if you have already indicated that you are willing to help then there is no need to sign up on the form.

FlowersMothering Sunday

Next week, not only will it be our Mothering Sunday service, with our usual gift of daffodils, but we will be including at 11:00 am a service of dedication for Jessica and Sophia Mann.

ScrollThe Church Electoral Roll

The Electoral Roll is being revised between Sunday 9th March and Sunday 6th April. If you are a regular worshipper at St. John's and would like to be on the roll, please see Sharon Mortimer for more details and an application form. Also, if you are already on the roll but have changed your address or phone number since last April please let Sharon know your new details.

Administration

Someone recently asked if Wendy, our Parish Administrator, was available to other Church organisations. The answer is yes but do please have a word with Raymond before submitting any work.  If required, Wendy's hours can be increased, but, at certain times of the year she will be busier than others.
