Wendy Eastwood

It was with great sadness that we announced the death of Wendy (on Thursday, 3rd January) at last Sunday's services. Wendy has been a much loved member of the St. John's Church family for the last 25 years. Our hearts and prayers go out to Peter and the family. There will be a Service of Thanksgiving for Wendy's life at St. John's at 12 noon on Friday 18th January followed by the short Service of Committal at Kingsdown Crematorium at about 1pm. Peter invites you all to join the family at these services and at a reception at the Blunsdon House Hotel from about 1.30pm to share our memories of Wendy together.

Flowers will be from the family only but donations in memory of Wendy (to be divided between Prospect Hospice and Cancer Research) can be passed to our Treasurer, Andrew. Cheques should be made payable to St. John's PCC. Alternatively, donations can be passed to the Funeral Directors, Hilliers.

Joe's first operation

"I had hoped to be in hospital having a bowel operation by now but no luck. This week I had a call from the surgeon’s secretary and she informed me that Mr George the surgeon was unable to get a team together as quickly as he had hoped, so the operation will now take place on Saturday 19th of Jan - prayers much appreciated."

Joe will love to see congregation members when he gets back from hospital. We will keep you up-to-date about when exactly that is and what's the best way to arrange to see him. We will provide details of how to get to his house in Ashton Keynes.

Jars of grace

Thank you to those who have already returned their Jars. The total received so far is 80 Jars (and gifts) totalling £2,023 including the collections at the Christingle, Carol, and Midnight Communion services, and tax to be recovered on gift-aided gifts.

If you haven't yet done so, please bring your Jar of Grace to church as soon as possible. We are aiming to beat last year's total of 81 Jars (and gifts) totalling £2,073 so we are almost there!

The proceeds will be shared between UNICEF (to save the lives of children) and Luweero. Cheques should be made payable to St. John's PCC.

The Parish Office

The Parish Office is now open for business! Our Parish Administrator, Wendy Hiscock is in the office on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9am to 1pm. If you have any items which you would like included in the bulletin, please let Wendy have them in writing or by e-mail first thing on Wednesday morning.
