Wonderful news
We were delighted to hear after last week's conference that Bishop Mike and Anthea were flying off to a week's holiday in Spain. Considering that Mike was told after the accident that Anthea was unlikely to survive the night, this was cause for sustained applause.
J.A.M. Spread needs your help!
A date for your diary - Saturday, 28 April: J.A.M. in the Ark at the Haydon Centre. We are looking for childrens group leaders, helpers, refreshment person(s), scenery builders, arts & crafts people, puppeteers, actors/actresses, door bounders, registrars, a video operator, invitation/poster printing person(s), cleaners (for afterwards) and any volunteers for the not mentioned.
If you can do it, we need you!
Please put your name and preferred role on the list in the foyer if you are willing to help with this wonderful outreach to our local children.
Does anyone work in a printing company or know where a definite discount can be obtained? If so approximately 1000 A6 sized invitations & some A3/A4 posters are required to promote J.A.M in the Ark. Please see Tony Mann or Andrew Carpenter with details.
A date for a meeting will follow shortly.
Thank you from all the team.
Invitation
The Pentecostal church in Swindon is inviting St. John's to send representatives to the induction of their new minister on Saturday, March 10 at the church in Osborne Street at 5:00 p.m.
If you would like to attend, please have a word with Raymond who will pass your name on to the administrator. It would be great if we could share in that special day.
Good Friday Service
Mike Haslam, Vicar of North Swindon, is offering to host the Good Friday service this year in the Underground Youth Centre at the North Swindon Village Centre. He is very keen to have an outdoor, as well as an indoor component that day, to include not only worship but witness. He is looking for a representative from the various churches involved to help in the planning. If you would like to be involved in helping to plan that event, have a word with Raymond, who will be delighted to pass your name on to Mike.
Electoral Roll
This year we have to draw up a new Electoral Roll. Which means that if you wish to be on St John's Electoral Roll, you will have to fill in a new form, even if you are on the existing roll. If you are new to St John's and wish to join the Electoral Roll, now is the time to do so. Forms will be available in church next week, so please please make sure you do not leave without one. If you have any any queries please contact our Electoral Roll Officer, Sharon Mortimer.
Women's world day of prayer
This will be on Friday, 2 March 2007. We have two services in this area - 10:00am at St Mary's Rodbourne Cheney and 7:30pm at St Andrews Moredon Road.
Do you buy on line?
