Church notice sheet - 11 February 2007
The building project - new entrance
You will see that we have placed two notices on the side of the church indicating the new entrance (on the opposite side of the church to the old entrance).
This will be the way in and out for the next 14-16 weeks, in order that the building work can be carried out. We do not anticipate any difficulty either for church services, nor for any of the groups which meet in the church building during the course of the week. The building work is entirely external.
From Monday, 12 February the main doors will be locked, and will not be re-opened again until the project is completed.
Jars of grace
If you have yet to bring yours back please do so! The total is now £2,073 from 81 jars. All the money raised will be shared between the work in Luweero in Uganda and the UNICEF appeal to benefit children in desperate need in the third world.
If you would still like to give but didn't save in a jar, please put your gift in an envelope marked 'Jar of Grace' and pass it to Andrew. Cheques should be made payable to St John's PCC.
Lay training
Rob Burles, who is presently Area Dean of Swindon, and Richard Armitage, his assistant, have put together an ambitious programme of Lay Training at local level. The following subjects will be tackled from Easter onward. Full names, details, and contact points will be given a little later. Just for now let me give you a list of the titles that will be on offer. All will be in Swindon.

Not sure what to do with your small change now the Jars of Grace are finished for another year? Worry no more - we have the answer!
On the table in the foyer you will find a basket containing phials in which you can pop your small change and save your pockets and purses from wear and tear.
They will hold about 60p in pennies, £3.50 in 5p coins, £11 in 20p coins, £25 in £1 coins, or you can fill them with mixed coinage (but not foreign coins please).
