Church notice sheet - 30 December 2007

HandsThis week's prayer topics

The homeless, the bereaved and all those who are sick. Split families, that the hurt may be healed. All for whom Christmas brings only sadness. Our armed forces and their families, having to spend this special time apart.

Readings

9:00am - Hebrews 10:5-10 and Matthew 2:13-23
11:00am - Matthew 2:13-18

Jars of grace

It's time to bring them back! Please bring your Jars of Grace to church on one of the next two Sundays if at all possible. We are aiming to beat last year's total of £2,073 from 81 jars!

The proceeds will be shared between UNICEF (to save the lives of children) and Luweero. Cheques should be made payable to St. John's PCC.

Building project

We are still some £1,500 short of the estimated cost to complete all aspects of the Building Project and we would love to achieve this before the end of the year. Meanwhile, the phials are still coming in - 127 have been returned containing £839. Please bring your phials back as soon as possible.

Christmas flowers

Our grateful thanks to all who have made donations without a dedication for the church flowers and to those who decorate the church so beautifully week by week.

Christmas cards

Don't forget to look in the boxes on the table in the church foyer to retrieve your Christmas cards from other members of St John's to you. We cannot undertake to deliver cards that are not collected from the boxes which will be removed after Sunday, 6th January, 2008.

Do you buy on line?

We have received our first commission cheque amounting to more than £50! Log on via our website or go directly to http://www.buy.at/StjohnsHW. The church will receive commission from 2% to 12% on anything you purchase.

There are over 100 retailers involved (including M&S, Amazon, John Lewis, Comet) some of which offer exclusive discounts and promotions - and best of all ... there is no extra cost to the purchaser!

Tape Ministry

If you or someone you know would like a recording of the service, please contact Nigel Crowhurst, our Tape Co-ordinator.
