Spring Harvest Balance
Those going to Spring Harvest at Minehead, in Easter week as part of the St John's party, are reminded that the balance of the cost should be paid to Andrew by the end of January. Cheques should be made payable to St John's PCC.
Jars of grace
Keep bringing them back! The total is now £2,062 from 78 jars. All the money raised will be shared between the work in Luweero in Uganda and the UNICEF appeal to benefit children in desperate need in the third world.
If you would still like to give but didn't save in a jar, please put your gift in an envelope marked 'Jar of Grace' and pass it to Andrew. Cheques should be made payable to St John's PCC.
Equipped to grow
Could all participants let Raymond have their workshop choices by the end of today. We have to send them off on Monday morning.
Tea and talk time
Over the last eighteen months the St John's pastoral care team has attempted to make pastoral contact with as many St John's members as possible. For some members, this has meant many visits and chats in response to particular needs, for others just the occasional chat or single visit, and for a few little or no pastoral contact.
We are keen to ensure that all members have the opportunity to talk to someone from the pastoral care team. So if Raymond, Pam (Fletcher), Norma, Jean or Andrew suggests he or she calls in to see you, don't think you've done something wrong or they want you to do something, it's just tea and talk time.
You don't have to wait for one of them to contact you though - if you would like a visit in the near future, just have a word with one of them, and put the kettle on!
Anthea Hill
Since the Bishop's accident in October many of you have been praying very faithfully for Anthea. Now that she is back home, information about her progress is not being supplied in the detail that it was. In fact, the Bishop has been writing some very interesting stuff about Celebrity Big Brother on his blog. No, there is no escape! However, on Monday morning an encouraging piece appeared bringing us all up to date with Anthea's progress. It is entitled 'Collar off'.
More clerical comings and goings
Peter Norris, Pastor of Rodbourne Baptist Church will be moving to London in March, and Beth Brown, the new Vicar of Taw Hill has started work after a long illness following her licensing in October.
Thanks to Libby
Our contribution to last week's prayer display for the week of Prayer for Christian Unity at the church in Abbey Meads, was on the theme of Living Stones. Warm thanks to Libby Gash for the art work for our contribution. It will form our own display in church. Meanwhile anxious members of Christ the Servant have already enlisted her help for an art project they are involved in. They have described it as an answer to prayer!
