The ark has landed
Andrew Carpenter is very keen to have a meeting to discuss J.A.M. in the Ark with those involved in leading that event. If you have not replied to his e-mail, please do it as quickly as you can.
How much do you know about your own culture?
On Thursday, 24 May, Emmanuel Church in Haydon Wick have two speakers talking about "Worship and Mission in Post-Christendom."
Alan and Eleanor Kreider are former Greenbelt speakers, who have worked in the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Christianity. These are the same people who produced the Imagine DVD. They are based in the USA but are currently undertaking a UK teaching tour.
Many things have changed in Europe and in Great Britain over the last few decades. Beliefs and attitudes about Christianity that we took for granted 30 years ago no longer apply. Here is a chance to learn more about the issues that face us in Swindon and form the background to our lives.
The evening begins at 5:30pm and closes at 9:30pm. It will cost £5, but for that you will get a supper. To book, please pick up a form in the foyer and send it to the address at the bottom.
Lunch together
A few months ago, when Toby and Tamsin came to visit, they invited us to meet them for lunch at The Dockle Farmhouse. It was so enjoyable that a number of people suggested we do this on a more regular basis.
Therefore, on Sunday, May 20, after the 11:00am service, please make your way to that pub. Please do not feel that you have to be a long-standing member of the church to be part of this. In fact, if you are a relatively recent member of St John's, it would be a really good way for you to get to know everyone else.
Building project - calling all outstanding pledges
We
would like all outstanding pledges converted into gifts by the time the work
is completed in about three weeks time.
When the construction work is completed, we will need furniture, equipment, carpets and curtains. You can help by filling phials for furnishings! Just take one of the phials from the basket in the church room and fill it with your small change. Already 39 have been returned containing a total of just over £288!
See the building work in progress...
Spirit 7 - Pentecost 2007

- 4:30pm 'New Creation' worship band
- 5:15pm Various family fun activities (parachutes and the like!)
