Annual report and accounts 2006
The St John's Annual Report and Accounts for 2006 are displayed on the notice board In the church foyer. If anyone would like to have a copy to study in more detail before The Annual Parochial Church meeting on Monday 30th April, please have a word with Andrew who will be happy to supply one.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting
The St John's APCM will take place in church on Monday 30th April. It will be preceded by a short meeting at 7.30 p.m. at which we will elect 2 churchwardens for the coming year. Howard Smith, who has been our churchwarden for 10 years, is stepping down. We are very grateful to Howard for all he has done as churchwarden and we are delighted that he will continue to manage the building project through to completion.
At the APCM we will review the past year and hear about the vision for the next year and beyond. We will elect our new PCC (Parochial Church Council) for which there will be 7 vacancies (4 for three years, 1 for two years and 2 for one year). The PCC is the decision making body of the church. If you would like to stand for election to the PCC, your name must be on the Electoral Roll and you will need 2 people (who are also on the Electoral Roll) to propose and second your nomination. The list for nominations are on the notice board in the church foyer.
Whether you are standing for election or not, do be at this important and interesting meeting if you possibly can.
Street pastors
There is a new initiative by the churches to provide street pastors in Old Town and New Town areas of Swindon. Christians would work alongside the police to offer pastoral support in the various situations that arise in the town area on a Friday and Saturday evening. You will hear more about this soon. Please do pray for Paul Rush who is now putting the whole thing together.
Building project
If
you have not already contributed towards the cost of the building project,
it is not too late to do so. If you have made a pledge, we
would like these to be converted into gifts by the time the work is completed
in June if at all possible.
When the construction work is completed, we will need furniture, equipment, carpets and curtains. You can help by filling phials for furnishings! Just take one of the phials from the basket in the church room and fill it with your small change. Already 21 have been returned containing a total of just over £211!
See the building work in progress...
James Wilks House service
